Today on the 91

The Athena meeting was today in Santa Ana and the trip there was uneventful, as usual. But, the trip home, is a whole different story. I was a fish in a very small fish tank. One of 200,000 other fish in a very small fish tank, or so it seemed. I think that everybody in Southern California decided to be on the 91 at 4:30 today. It took me almost 2 hours to get home, and I looked like the cat in the picture when I got home. The drivers on these freeways are CRAZY! They try to drive over you, around you, under you and through you, even without a turn signal. I am trying to recover from the drive and stop looking like the kitty in the picture but it is hard to do after having to be an aquarium fish for the day.

My Ready Room

I want to describe for you what my ready room looks like so that you can envision the scene when I tell you I am in it.
We will start with the wall, I have a beautiful picture of one of Earth's fabled beasts, the dreaded, fire-breathing dragon. He is a large, winged, lizard-type reptile, with a large flaired plate behind his head. His coloring ranges from blues and purples, depending on how the light is hitting his skin. Even though legend made him out to be a killer, he is magnificient to behold in this picture.
Also on this wall, I have the replicator to get my Earl Grey tea, Hot, and whatever else I need when I find myself needing to either spend long hours in here or to be able to have time to think. The smell of the tea is something that I wish you could experience for yourself, but even in this day and time, there isn't smell-o-vision. Let me try to explain it to you, the main ingredient is Bergamot, and it has a strong, pungent aroma, that makes your mouth water. But be warned, it can also give you a headache if you smell it too long by itself, I have also found that some people have found the taste and the smell unfriendly to their palates.
My desk is kind of a break from regulations, I insisted on a real wooden desk, boy did that take some talking. It had to be specially made, of course, so that it met the weight requirements of a starship. It is made of Red Oak and is the required length and depth, couldn't get them to budge on that, but I did get a middle drawer on it, heehee.
I have a couch for my visitors, two chairs, and another requirement that I pushed through, I got myself a reclining chair, for those nights that I don't leave my ready room. My reclining chair is made of a soft fabric and once you sit in it, the temperature adjusts to the level you request from the computer. It is perfect for that little power nap needed in between those tedious duty reports that are required even of ship CO's.
Well, you all know what the entrance doors look and sound like, so I don't have to explain those, do I?
Enjoy my ready room and please feel free to drop by and give a report.

A Day on the Holodeck

I have a few hours to myself before I have to be back on the bridge of my ship, so I thought I would pay a visit to the holodeck. This is something that I haven't done since we had the problem and the deaths on them.
I think that a nice, leisurely swim will feel good in a forest lake. So, I want each of you to use your imagination, since you can't see my lake, it is in a deep meadow, surrounded by trees. The lake is a deep blue, the trees a very deep green and lush.
I step into the lake and it is a wonderful temperature, just right for a moonlight swim, which of course there is a full moon to swim by. So if you will excuse me, I will take my swim in peace. See you on the Bridge.
Dismissed.

This is my ravings as myself!

This is my ravings as myself!

Today was the last day for my friend Heidi, she had given notice two weeks ago and today was her last day. They had a breakfast for her and I got her this cool gift. Found it at Walmart, a water jug, long and slender, with an opening at the top for ice cubes and water. Has a spigot on the front and a handle, fits on the side of your desk so you don't have to keep getting up from your desk to get your water.

It was kind of sad to see her go and everyone is worried that so many people are leaving, but that is the Healthcare business. People leave all the time for more money and higher positions. I will start worrying when the really big bosses start leaving.

Well, I guess that's it for today.
Talk to you tomorrow.

This is the first post, I hope you like it!

I am going to start my ravings on a note of ranting. The air in the building I work in never works, except in the winter. During the summer, it is sweltering, and all our fans do is blow hot air. It is damn hot in there and I always end up with a headache at the end of the day.
This is kind of fun and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I think I am going to enjoy writing it.
Talk to you tomorrow.
